Frequently asked questions
FAQ
Is the use of our system solution legal?
Yes, the prerequisite is a SORA license (Specific Operations Risk Assessment), which is prepared for our customers by an SDS partner and approved by the responsible aviation authorities.
What tests does a pilot need to be able to operate our system solution?
The A1, A2 and A3 pilot licenses are required for operation. Further information can be found at https://www.bazl.admin.ch/bazl/de/home/drohnen/open.html
Can several drones be operated simultaneously with our system solution?
In principle, this is possible. However, please note that the maximum flow rate of 13 liters per minute must not be exceeded.
Is video or film footage taken during the cleaning or treatment flight?
No, the pilot orients himself to the object using an integrated camera. However, this only provides images in real time and no data is recorded.
How high can you clean with our system solution?
Cleaning up to a maximum of 35 meters is possible without additional traction rope aids. A safety rig device is used for higher objects, allowing heights of up to 100 meters.
What functions do the individual module components perform?
Module 01:
Forms the basic module with the integral software control and is used for façade and roof treatment.
Module 02:
Forms the extension for cleaning components (glass, metal, etc.) with osmosis water, which can also be heated.
Module 03:
Forms the extension for storing the drones, tools and barrier material in the vehicle (lateral pull-out device included).
Module components Air:
Contains the patented drone add-on components such as substructure construction, fan protection devices, lances, nozzles, short hoses, couplings, FBE etc.
What do I need on site at the customer's premises to be able to operate the system solution?
All you need on site is a conventional water connection. Everything else (including power supply) is provided by the SDS system solution.
Does Swiss Drone Services AG also offer the appropriate cleaning agents?
Yes, Swiss Drone Services AG offers cleaning agents specially developed for cleaning and treating surfaces.
These are available exclusively to our sales partners and customers and can be purchased via our webshop.
Which drone is used for cleaning and treating surfaces?
A conventional drone model from DJI that requires few modifications to perform the service.
Will I receive appropriate training when I purchase the system solution?
Yes, Swiss Drone Services attaches great importance to the required safety standards and the handling of the system components. In addition to system training, we also offer additional training in the use of cleaning and treatment agents.
Can I use any form of cleaning and treatment agent with the drone?
No, certain forms of cleaning and treatment agents can damage the system and the drone during use. In principle, the cleaning and treatment agents do not have to be obtained from Swiss Drone Services AG. However, the agents used for application must be approved by Swiss Drone Services AG.
How can I be sure that I will receive rapid support in the event of a problem with the system?
Swiss Drone Services AG will support you in the event of any questions or problems. At the same time, we are currently building up an international network of sales partners.
The sales partners have the relevant expertise and the necessary spare parts to be able to respond promptly.
Can inspections also be carried out with the drone?
Yes, the drone manufacturer offers a variety of different gimbals. From thermal imaging cameras to laser distance meters, high-resolution cameras, etc.
These can all be attached to the drone using a gimbal device.
How long do the batteries last during a cleaning job?
This depends heavily on the height of the building and the associated weight (hose length). A building height of up to 35 meters can be cleaned or sprayed for approx. 38 to 40 minutes. There is also the option of a powered version (cable routing on the hose) to work for an unlimited period of time. However, we only recommend this solution to a limited extent.
Who was the system solution developed for?
Basically for companies that are at home in building cleaning and building treatment. Professional use of the system requires a certain level of expertise in the use of cleaning and treatment agents.
Are there any flight restrictions with the system solution?
Yes, special buildings such as prisons, nuclear power plants and sensitive infrastructure in general require special permission from the aviation authorities, but this can be granted if the appropriate permission is obtained in good time. Furthermore, it is still possible to fly in light rain. Wind forces are also an issue that must be assessed on a situational basis.
Are there service intervals (maintenance cycles) on the system that need to be taken into account?
In principle, the system is equipped with very high-quality components that reduce service intervals (if operated correctly) to an absolute minimum. We recommend an annual inspection by the sales partner and the possible replacement of disposable filters on the system.
Are there service intervals (maintenance cycles) on the drone that need to be taken into account?
Yes, the drone also needs to be inspected from time to time. Parts such as the rotor blades may also need to be replaced. In the operating instructions you will find the
important key data on the subject of maintenance and servicing.
Can individual parts be purchased and replaced by the customer?
Yes, individual parts can be purchased and in some cases replaced yourself. These can be obtained from the relevant sales partner. They can also provide you with expert support for your project.
Are there additional components to support security with the system solution?
Yes, the drone’s mode of operation is based on the RTK principle (real-time kinematic positioning). Additional components can ensure that the drone can fly very close and very precisely to the building envelope and at the same time support the pilot’s activities. These aids are particularly recommended for inexperienced pilots.
How do I ensure that I always have enough charged batteries?
The sale of our system solution includes a sufficient number of batteries and a quick-charging system designed for this purpose, which always provides a sufficient number of batteries. This ensures a full working day on site without interruption.
What daily performance can I achieve when cleaning or treating surfaces?
This is highly dependent on the object, the size and the corresponding substrate (degree of soiling, etc.). Generally speaking, the time saved is between 4 and 12 times that of conventional surface cleaning or surface treatment.
Can I use the drone to clean all types of building envelopes?
Cleaning and treating buildings is possible, but drone technology is not the solution to all problems. There are also limits to the feasibility of drone technology.
Are there operating instructions for the system solution?
Yes, there are detailed operating instructions in several languages. At the same time, the touch screen on the module is also multilingual in use. There is also documentation on the use of the cleaning and treatment agents offered by Swiss Drone Services AG.
How are the individual modules installed in the vehicle?
This depends very much on your choice of concept. Some customers want to have all modules installed in one vehicle. Other customers choose a towing vehicle with a trailer.
The modular systems are designed in such a way that they can be “multifunctionally”
connected to each other. This concept allows a high degree of flexible use.
Are the cleaning and treatment agents from Swiss Drone Services AG easy to use?
The cleaning and treatment agents we have developed are designed to be used in a multifunctional manner. The SDS system solution prepares the concentrated products accordingly using freely selectable mixing concentrations, which the pump systems prepare according to your specifications.
Do I always need two people to operate the system?
We recommend a two-person team when working with the system. However, it is possible for the pilot to control all functions himself using the remote control extension.
However, to monitor the environment during the flight, it is advisable to have another person on site to monitor the environment and compliance with safety regulations during the flight.
What are the advantages of cleaning or treating surfaces with a drone?
Drone building cleaning offers numerous advantages: greater efficiency, reduced costs, improved safety for staff, access to hard-to-reach areas, more environmentally friendly
cleaning and faster completion of projects.
